Jessica Rold is a visual artist currently living on Fanø, a small island off the South West coast of Denmark. She obtained her BFA with honors in oil painting at the American Academy of Art where she was awarded Best in Show.
Her realistic painting technique allows her to capture a range of theme such as, the landscape of Fanø Island, still lives, portraiture, and the imaginative formations of mushrooms.
Her current series captures sculptural formations of flourishing mushrooms and coral at the peak of their existence. A vast variety of species intermingle with one another to highlight their unique characteristics. Colliding natural objects with manmade structures question the effect we’ve had on sustainability by forcing nature into what we perceive as aesthetically beautiful.
